Vikrant Massey meets IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma after winning Filmfare for 12th Fail: ‘Jab ek Manoj dusre Manoj ko…’
After receiving the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Critics), actor Vikrant Massey met IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma to celebrate the win with the inspiration behind 12th Fail.

Actor Vikrant Massey’s recent win at the Filmfare Awards 2024 holds special significance for him for two key reasons: firstly, it marks his debut win at the prestigious ceremony, and secondly, he clinched the Best Actor (Critics’) title triumphing over icons such as Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Vicky Kaushal, for his performance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail.
Based on the 2019 book of the same name, depicting the life and struggles of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, 12th Fail received widespread acclaim upon its release last year, particularly praising Massey’s portrayal of the protagonist.
Meanwhile, after receiving the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Critics) during the ceremony held in Gujarat on Sunday, Massey met Sharma to celebrate the win with the inspiration behind 12th Fail.
Taking to social media to share a photo of himself posing alongside Massey holding the Black Lady, Sharma noted, “Jab ek Manoj dusre Manoj ko apni Filmfare trophy dikhaane laata hai, tab uss par aur bhi pyaar aata hai (When one Manoj brings his Filmfare trophy to show another Manoj, then the love for him increases).”

Sharing the same photo to his Instagram story, Massey referred to Sharma as the “asli hero (real hero).” Earlier in the day, Massey had shared another picture to his Instagram story, showing that he has kept his Filmfare trophy in the pooja room inside his house.
In addition to earning Massey the trophy for Best Actor (Critics), 12th Fail also won awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Editing.
In her review of the movie, The Indian Express’ Shubhra Gupta wrote, “Vikrant Massey-starrer cleaves close to ground reality, with characters that makes you feel that they’ve wandered off the street, dishing out life-lessons laced with dollops of inspiration.”
