Urvashi Rautela says Sonali Kulkarni’s ‘women are lazy’ remark applies to ‘velli girls’, and not her
Urvashi Rautela said that she is very hardworking, which is why Sonali Kulkarni's recent comments about women being lazy doe not apply to her.

Actor Urvashi Rautela has reacted to Sonali Kulkarni’s controversial ‘women are lazy’ statement, and has said that the remark does not apply to her, because she is an outsider in the industry. Speaking at an event, Sonali had said, “Bharat main bahut saari ladkiyaan alsi hain (A lot of women in India are lazy).”
At a recent event, Urvashi was asked about Sonali’s statement. The actor said, “See, the thing is, this doesn’t apply to me because everybody knows I am an outsider. And everybody knows how hardworking I am. I have made a career in Bollywood. Globally, fans know me. I am the only Indian girl to win Miss Universe India twice. I am the youngest judge in history to just Miss Universe. So this doesn’t apply to me. This quote applies to all the velli (jobless) girls out there.”

Sonali’s statement received a lot of criticism, and the Dil Chahta Hai actor later issued a lengthy apology and said that she doesn’t want to be at the “centre of sensational situations.”
A part of her apology read, “Being a woman myself, my intention was not to hurt other women. In fact, I have extensively expressed myself time and again in support of us and what is it being a woman. I’m grateful to all of you for reaching out to me personally to appreciate or to criticize. Hope we will be able to have more open exchange of thoughts.”
