Shahid Kapoor goes back to Punjab with ‘Udta Punjab’

'Udta Punjab' takes Shahid Kapoor to the green state Punjab where he also shot major portions of his 2007 hit 'Jab We Met'.

Shahid Kapoor has started off this year on a high note with winning the ‘Best Actor’ award at almost every award function this season and he surely might be hoping for this run to continue with his releases this year.

One of the projects he is working for, in 2015, is Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Udta Punjab’ which takes him to the green state Punjab where he also shot major portions of his 2007 hit ‘Jab We Met’.

‘Jab We Met’ had a great ‘word of mouth’ success and earned Shahid applause for his portrayal of the restrained and shy Aditya Kashyap. The movie, thereby, holds a special reverence in his life as he says that he learnt a great deal from director Imtiaz Ali while shooting the film.

Shahid Kapoor hopes that ‘Udta Punjab’ will prove to be a success just as ‘Jab We Met’ did.

Shahid is soon expected to join the movie’s team in Punjab, where the film’s crew is currently doing a recce. Shahid has actively been in touch with the production house to check on which cities they are scouting.

During ‘Jab We Met’ they had shot in Chandigarh and Patiala and for ‘Udta Punjab’ while the search is yet on, large portions of the film will be shot Chandigarh and a few places around.

Recently, Shahid admitted how he is scared for the movie as this happens to be one of the most challenging roles of his career. But with a movie and role like ‘Haider’ to his credit, we don’t think there’s much for him to worry about.

With the shoot of ‘Udta Punjab’ commencing in March, Shahid’s next two projects – ‘Farzi’ and the Hindi remake of ‘Magadheera’ – will go on floors by the end of this year.
