Twinkle Khanna says daughter Nitara defended their pet dog after it bit her on both hands: ‘If I had done the same…’
Twinkle Khanna reflected on an incident when her daughter Nitara was bitten on both hands by their dog.

Actor turned author Twinkle Khanna, in a recent article discussed her daughter Nitara’s deep attachment with their pet dog Freddie. Twinkle shared that Nitara had an unfortunate accident when she was bitten by Freddie. As a result, Nitara had to receive four shots. Despite this, Nitara was happy that Freddie was safe because she was trying to prevent the dog from chewing wooden skewers when the incident took place.
In her Times of India column, Twinkle shared a Christmas incident where someone mistakenly placed a plate of chicken satay in front of the kids, and their dog Freddie quickly ate them, including the wooden skewers. In an attempt to prevent any harm, Twinkle’s 11-year-old got bitten while trying to remove the skewers. Despite the incident, after receiving rabies and tetanus shots, Twinkle said that Nitara had no regrets, tagging it as an accident, and what matters is that Freddie is okay. Nitara said, “It was an accident. He didn’t mean to bite me, and it doesn’t matter as long as Freddie is fine.”

The writer humorously contrasted this with the hypothetical scenario of her accidentally chomping her daughter’s fingers, predicting it would become a therapy session topic years later.

Twinkle also recalled how after a tough day, she came home, and her dog Freddie greeted her with excitement, wagging its tail happily. It made her think that if people welcomed their spouses like dogs do, maybe there would be fewer divorces. Remembering her distracted response to her husband Akshay Kumar’s call, she sent him a picture of them with a heart emoji, trying to express her feelings like wagging her tail.
Akshay and Twinkle have been married for 23 years. They have a son Aarav (21) and daughter Nitara (11).
