Tumbbad re-release box office collection Day 1: Cult horror film beats Kareena Kapoor’s The Buckingham Murders, earns Rs 1.65 crore

Tumbbad has also out-performed other recent re-releases like Laila Majnu (Rs 30 lakh), Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (Rs 1.2 cr in three days) and Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar, which minted Rs 1.2 cr in two weeks. At this rate, Tumbbad will comfortably emerge as the highest grossing re-release film of recent times, as most of the films ended their gross with box office run under Rs 10 cr. The film will also not face any major obstacles at the box office, as there aren’t many major releases.

The makers on Friday also announced that Tumbbad 2 is in the works. The surprise announcement was made at the end of the theatrical re-release. Tumbbad is currently not available on any OTT platforms.

Produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah, and starring Jyoti Malshe and Anita Date-Kelkar alongside Sohum Shah.
