Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer romantic drama Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is holding well at the ticket counters, after getting a good opening on the festival of Holi. On its third day of release, the film showed a jump in comparison to its second day in national chains - PVR, INOX and Cinepolis. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh gave an update on the film's collections on Friday until 3 pm. He wrote on Twitter, "#TuJhoothiMainMakkaar at national chains… Day 3 / Fri [working day]… Update: 3 pm…#PVR: 1.25 cr #INOX: 75 lacs #Cinepolis: 45 lacs ⭐️ Total: ₹ 2.45 cr Nett BOC. #TJMM trending better than Day 2 [₹ 2.34 cr till 3 pm]." As per the industry tracker Sacnilk, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar's third-day collection is approximately Rs 10.1 cr, which brings the total collection of director Luv Ranjan's film to around Rs 36.17 cr. It recorded an occupancy of 11.66%. The film had a double-digit opening (Rs 15.7 cr) on Wednesday, which was a holiday. Now, to ensure a strong result, it is necessary for the film to match its first-day numbers over the weekend. #TuJhoothiMainMakkaar at national chains… Day 3 / Fri [working day]… Update: 3 pm…#PVR: 1.25 cr#INOX: 75 lacs#Cinepolis: 45 lacs ⭐️ Total: ₹ 2.45 cr Nett BOC.#TJMM trending better than Day 2 [₹ 2.34 cr till 3 pm]. pic.twitter.com/lzj0GvIobL — taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) March 10, 2023 Though TJMM's collection is not at par with Ranbir Kapoor's previous film Brahmastra, which earned Rs 120.75 cr in its opening weekend, or even Luv Ranjan's previous hit Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety on its third day, it is definitely holding better than most recent Bollywood releases. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has already crossed the lifetime collection of Akshay Kumar's Selfiee (Rs 16.60 cr) and Kartik Aaryan's Shehzada (Rs 32 cr). Also, it has performed better than Ranbir's previous romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which also starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. A festive release just like Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, ADHM earned Rs 35.60 cr within the first three days of its release. Going forward, the film's real test will begin on the weekdays and a not-so-good response from film critics might work against it. The Indian Express' film critic Shubhra Gupta found the film to be boring. In her review, she wrote, "The writers of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar clearly didn’t get the memo on brevity being the soul of wit: the film drags on for two hours before it comes to the last twenty minutes, which is when the pace picks up."
