Triptii Dimri reveals how Sandeep Reddy Vanga created safe space for intimate Animal scene with Ranbir Kapoor: ‘Closed set, 4 people, decision to say cut’
In Animal, there is a blooming romance between the characters of Triptii Dimri and Ranbir Kapoor, which involves a shot of cleverly designed and conceived frontal nudity.

Filming an intimate scene requires an actor to feel the safest– something which Triptii Dimri experienced on the sets of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, when she shot for one such sequence with co-star Ranbir Kapoor.
In Animal, Triptii features in a special role as Ranbir Kapoor’s lover, who is later revealed to be a mole. But before the twist is unveiled, there is a blooming romance between the two characters, which involves a shot of cleverly designed and conceived frontal nudity.
“There were many, many discussions that happened before we shot it,” Triptii tells Indianexpress.com about what led to the much-talked about sequence from the film.
“The day he offered me the film, Sandeep sir had categorically told me, ‘Hey this is the scene I want to shoot; I am looking at it this way. I promise you that it won’t be vulgar, that it will be aesthetically shot. But I have to look for your comfort. So if you are not comfortable, we will think of a different way to do it. But you need to tell me honestly,'” Triptii recalls.
The actor says she took time to think and eventually gave him her go-ahead. The last time Triptii was faced with such a decision was during her acclaimed OTT film Bulbbul. “When you sign a project, you do with the understanding of what you are getting into. The rape scene in Bulbull was more traumatic, this wasn’t. There I had to leave behind myself to portray that on screen. When you sign a film, you have to make sure you give your 100 percent.”
Triptii was soon on set with all of them– a space that made her feel extremely comfortable. The actor recalls how the entire set was closed down when the said sequence was shot.
“Ranbir made sure I was comfortable. There was obviously that hiccup, I was nervous, but he made me feel very comfortable. There were literally four people on set. Me Ranbir, the DoP Amit Roy and Sandeep sir. Even the monitors were shut to make sure I am in a comfortable space and doing well. Everything was taken care of.
“When you are made to feel that safe and comfortable, then you feel good. It felt like a safe space, of working with people who respect you and the process. Safe sets are the most important. I was told that the set is closed and if I feel the need to stop, I could say cut as well. That’s what gave me immense confidence as well,” she adds.
