Total  Rs 42 Cr

Despite its strong start, Thamma is currently trailing behind Stree 2, the highest-grossing film in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Stree 2, which released last year, had clocked an impressive Rs 31.4 crore on its second day. After its first two days, Stree 2 had already made Rs 91 crore. However, Thamma has outperformed earlier films from the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe such as Bhediya (Rs 9.57 crore) and Munjya (Rs 7.25 crore). Yet, when compared to another tentpole horror comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which made Rs 37 crore on Day 2, the gap remains significant. The film is also further behind Maddock’s other blockbuster of the year, Chhaava, which earned Rs 37 crore on Day 2.

In broader comparisons, Thamma is also lagging behind several other major releases of 2025. Housefull 5 collected Rs 31 crore on its second day, the surprise hit Saiyaara earned Rs 26 crore, Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par posted Rs 20.2 crore, and Salman Khan’s Sikandar brought in Rs 29 crore. The film has, however, fared better than Ayushmann Khurrana’s previous outing Dream Girl 2, which managed Rs 14.02 crore on its second day. Industry experts view Thamma as a potential comeback for Ayushmann, who returned to the big screen after a two-year hiatus following a series of underperforming films.

Nonetheless, the movie still has a long way to go before securing hit status for its leading man or adding another blockbuster to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The upcoming days will be crucial, especially as Kantara: Chapter 1 continues its strong third-week run and Harshvardhan Rane’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, despite a limited release, is reportedly showing promising trends at the box office.
