Producer Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films has delivered hit horror-comedies like Stree, Stree 2, and Munjya. The shared universe, which also includes Bhediya and Roohi, is set to expand with a new film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. Titled Thama, the film will be released next year.

The makers not only unveiled the motion poster of Thama, but also shared more details about the film. The Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer will be release on Diwali 2025. In the film, Ayushmann is rumoured to be playing a vampire; a reference to this character was made at the end of Stree 2.

An Instagram announcement read, “Dinesh Vijan’s Horror Comedy Universe needed a love story… unfortunately, it’s a bloody one. 💘 Brace yourselves for #Thama – Diwali 2025! 💥.”

Maddock described Thama as ‘a gripping love story set against a bloody backdrop’. Other than Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, the film also stars Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Thama will be directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, who helped Munjya, and is written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew and Arun Fulara.

Stree 2 emerged as the biggest Hindi-language hit of the year, grossing over Rs 800 crore at the box office. Ayushmann has been having a rough run in theatres recently, but appeared to bounce back with the modest hit Dream Girl 2.
