Thama: Aayushmann Khurrana is the only hope of humanity in Dinesh Vijan’s next; Nawazuddin Siddiqui is ‘Andhere Ka Badshah’

Thama will also star actors Rashmika Mandanna and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. The film is all set to release in theaters on Diwali 2025.

After the blockbuster success of Stree 2, Maddock Films has announced the next installment in Dinesh Vijan’s ever-expanding horror-comedy universe, Thama. On Monday, the makers teased audiences with intriguing first-look posters, unveiling the film’s lead cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal. Alongside the posters, the makers promised fans a deeper glimpse into the World of Thama at precisely 11:11 am on August 19.

Each poster introduced a key character from the supernatural tale. Nawazuddin Siddiqui takes on the menacing role of Yakshasan, described as the “Andhere Ka Badshah” or ruler of darkness. Paresh Rawal steps in as Mr. Ram Bajaj Goyal, a man who often finds tragedy hidden between comedy, suggesting a complex, layered role. Rashmika Mandanna will be seen as Tadaka, the ray of hope in this grim world, while Ayushmann Khurrana plays Alok, described as the “only hope of humanity.”

Shortly after the reveal, social media buzzed with excitement. Fans of the horror universe flooded the comments section of the posts, praising the unique character introductions and speculating about the film’s storyline. To heighten anticipation, Maddock Films also dropped a teaser featuring the text: “This universe needed a love story. Unfortunately, it’s a bloody one.” The ominous line hints at a dark romantic plot woven into the supernatural chaos.

Thama is produced by Dinesh Vijan, the mind behind successful horror-comedies like Stree, Bhediya, Roohi, and Munjya. Stree director Amar Kaushik joins the project as co-producer, while Aditya Sarpotdar, who previously helmed Munjya, will direct.
