Sutapa Sikdar says she is yet to come to terms with husband Irrfan Khan’s demise: ‘Babil and Ayan have struggles of their own’
Sutapa Sikdar shares her thoughts on how she has been coping with life after the death of her husband, actor Irrfan Khan.

Writer and actor Sutapa Sikdar has opened up about challenges she faced after the death of husband Irrfan Khan and how her sons Babil and Ayan have also had their own struggles. She said that she has changed as a person and is still coming to terms with Irrfan’s passing.
“It’s a task to deal with life after Irrfan. I used to think that I wouldn’t be able to share this emotion with anyone, but lately I feel more comfortable talking about him. It’s been a long time since he has been gone, but I am not the same person as I was before. I have also struggled to give time to writing and come up with something I am passionate about,” Sutapa said in an interview with Times Entertainment. She is credited as the dialogue writer of films like Kahaani, Shabd, and Khamoshi, and produced the 2016 flick Madaari, starring her husband. Irrfan passed away in 2020.

Sikdar mentioned that since the demise of Irrfan, she has struggled with her writing. “I am the most passionate about writing, but since Irrfan, I have not been able to get in touch with my emotions and put the pen to the paper in an effective manner. I am trying to write a book and film, where the former is about my husband. While I have been in an artistic rut, I want to share heartfelt stories of our journey together.”
She talks about the need for revisiting her life for the sake of her kids, Babil and Ayan. “Both of my sons have struggles of their own and often find themselves lost without their father. Irrfan was the composed character of our household, while I was the one who would panic quite easily,” she shared.
