In a major development in the ongoing dispute over late entrepreneur Sunjay Kapur’s properties, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, to disclose details of all movable and immovable assets he owned at the time of his death. The court was hearing a petition filed by Samaira and Kiaan Kapur, Sunjay’s children from his marriage to actor Karisma Kapoor, seeking a share in the Rs 30,000 crore estate of their late father. In their plea, the children also raised suspicions about a will purportedly written by their father, which they believe may be “forged and fabricated”. Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, had also challenged the will, which named Priya as the sole inheritor of Sunjay’s fortune.

Amid the legal tussle, Sunjay’s sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith, expressed full support for Samaira and Kiaan, voicing her surprise that his will did not allocate anything to them, despite the close bond they shared with their late father. In a recent interview, she spoke about Karisma Kapoor and her children, as well as rumours that her brother was trying for Portuguese citizenship for them. Mandhira added that she was unaware of the kids’ lawsuit beforehand and only learned of it when they arrived at court.

She also stated that she was unaware of Sunjay trying to attain Portuguese citizenship for Karisma and her kids. “I wasn’t aware of any of this. There are little flutters going around, which I’ve heard as well. But I wasn’t aware of any of this,” she told CNN-News18, adding “But it’s not something we’ve discussed. It is what I’m being told by people. I’ve not spoken to Lolo (Karisma) about this.”

Mandhira also asserted that the Kapur family’s equation with Karisma remains the same even now. “We’re all grieving in the same manner. So I don’t think anything has changed at all. If anything, we’re all in a state of shock with what has happened in this new will. The biggest shock is how the kids have been cut off. It’s the most bizarre thing because the love he (Sunjay) had for his two children (Samaira and Kiaan) were beyond words. They were his world,” she added.

Following their marriage in 2003, Karisma and Sunjay became parents to Samaira in 2005 and Kiaan in 2011. The couple parted ways a decade later, and their divorce was finalised in 2016. Sunjay married Priya Sachdev in 2017 and they remained together until his demise in June this year.
