Suniel Shetty admits that he is a dancer with two left feet yet the actor has appeared in some of the most popular dance numbers in the 1990s. Suniel has appeared in songs like “Sundara sundara”, “Sheher ki ladki”, “Jhanjhariya” among many other hits. In a recent interview, the actor said that female actors would have to wait on set for an hour so he could get one step right.
In a chat with ANI, Suniel shared that he would tell choreographers to focus more on style and body language than his steps. He said, “I always used to tell the choreographers that don’t make me dance so you and me both look like fools.” Suniel added that his dance moves were “more aerobics” and he wouldn’t stand a chance in front of the actors who dance so well today.
Suniel Shetty also recalled how he was criticised for his acting in his first film Balwan and while the criticism hurt him, he also acknowledged that he hadn’t trained to be an actor so he had to find his USP elsewhere. “I was written off by one of the top critics who ruled the roost then and said that he can’t make it, he needs to go back to his Udupis, he needs to sell idlis again. It was personal and it hurt, I was angry also,” he said and added, “But then when I sat back I realised that I have not done any acting classes, you didn’t educate yourself. Because of martial arts, you believed you can make it and you made it.”
Suneil said that since he had signed a bunch of movies, there was no time to go for acting classes so he made it a point that he would stand out by doing “death-defying stunts”. In an earlier chat with Nikhil Kamath for his YouTube channel, Suniel had shared that he performed his stunts by himself in the 1990s.
