Sonakshi Sinha says she hid her relationship with Zaheer Iqbal for seven years as she feared ‘nazar’: ‘There was no planned strategy’

In a recent conversation with CNN-News18, Sonakshi Sinha spoke about her relationship with her now-husband Zaheer Iqbal in detail and said, “We were dating for seven years before we got married. We said, ‘to hell with the world, we are going to celebrate our love’, and the day we got married, I don’t know what shifted and there was only love. And that’s the way we kept it. We wanted only the people who genuinely and truly love us to be present around us on our big day. We only wanted positive energy. And I think that’s what radiated into the world and it was beautiful.”

When asked about what made them keep their relationship a secret, Sonakshi quickly said, “Yeah, nazar”. Her answer made her husband laugh, who accompanied her to the event, and said, “I was going to say the same.” The actress further explained, “Being an actress, I feel a lot of attention is diverted to things that take away from the work and legacy that you are trying to build. And, I just feel its better to keep private things private because just that yours. You are anyway in the limelight and everybody knows everything about you. So, something that is so dear to you, I think should be kept for yourself, and that’s the reason I did it. There was no planned strategy. It was very organic.”

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot on June 23. The actors starred in the 2022 film Double XL. Their wedding took place at Sonkashi’s Mumbai house and was followed by a grand wedding reception on the same night. The celebration included actors Rekha, Salman Khan, Kajol, and Huma Qureshi, among others.
