Sikandar Worldwide box office collection day 1: Salman Khan’s Eid release earns Rs 30.06 cr, fails to make it to his top 5 earners
Sikandar box office collection day 1: Released a day before Eid, Salman Khan's film earned Rs 30.06 crore in India on Sunday, lagging behind his previous hits like Tiger Zinda Hai, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan.

Sikandar Movie Box Office Collection Day 1: Salman Khan’s much-anticipated film Sikandar hit theatres on Sunday, a day before Eid—an occasion often synonymous with his box office dominance. While initial predictions estimated an opening day collection of Rs 40-45 crore, the film fell short of expectations. According to Sacnilk, Sikandar earned Rs 26 crore in India on its first day. However, the film’s makers have claimed that the film has minted Rs 30.6 crore in India and its worldwide opening stands at Rs 54 crore on Sunday.
Among Salman’s recent releases, Sikandar has had the lowest opening barring his last release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan that earned Rs 13.5 crore on day 1 and Radhe which minted Rs 4.75 crore. Comparatively, his previous films performed better: Tiger Zinda Hai opened with Rs 34.10 crore, Bajrangi Bhaijaan raked in Rs 27.25 crore, Sultan minted Rs 36.54 crore, Kick collected Rs 26.40 crore, Bharat stood at Rs 42.30 crore, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo earned Rs 40.35 crore, and Ek Tha Tiger opened with Rs 32.93 crore. Even Tiger 3, his last release, had a stronger opening at Rs 44.5 crore. Sikandar has, however, managed to surpass his 2012 film Dabangg 2’s day one collection of Rs 21.10 crore.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared that Salman Khan starrer made about Rs 30 cr on Day 1 and wrote, “#Sikandar performs well on its opening day but falls short when compared to #SalmanKhan’s previous opening days. Given post-pandemic trends for highly anticipated films, an opening day of ₹ 40 cr+ was expected from #SalmanKhan this time… Collecting this number was even more crucial, considering #Sikandar had the biggest release ever for a #Hindi film in #India – 5500 screens / approx 22,000+ shows per day.”
Taran Adarsh also shared, “However, despite releasing on a Sunday, similar to #Tiger3 [#Diwali 2023], #Sikandar does not feature in #SalmanKhan’s #Top5 opening days list [check list below]. #Sikandar has performed relatively better in the mass belt and is expected to see a jump today [Monday] due to #Eid festivities… The real test will begin thereafter.”

Despite the underwhelming start, Sikandar is expected to see a boost on Monday, owing to the Eid holiday. Its collections were also impacted by online piracy. Trade analyst Komal Nahta confirmed the film’s leak on Sunday, stating, “This morning, I spoke to seven or eight people in the trade, and they confirmed that the film had been leaked. I was also told that Sajid Nadiadwala and the authorized team worked hard to remove the film from many piracy websites. But by then, the damage was already done. It spreads very fast.”
Adding to the pressure, Salman Khan has yet to deliver a Rs 500 crore blockbuster in India, a milestone that his contemporaries have achieved. Shah Rukh Khan crossed the mark with Pathaan and Jawan, Ranbir Kapoor with Animal, Sunny Deol with Gadar 2, Vicky Kaushal with Chhaava and even Stree 2 surpassed Rs 500 crore in domestic collections.
On Sunday, Sikandar recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 21.60 percent, peaking at 25 percent during evening shows. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the film features Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar in key roles.
