Siddhant Chaturvedi says he shaved his hair in heartbreak after his debut film was scrapped: ‘Mother told me to get back to CA’
Siddhant Chaturvedi had his breakout moment in 2019 with Ranveer Singh starrer Gully Boy, but before that, it was a period of rejection for five years.

Much before his breakout role in Gully Boy came his way, Siddhant Chaturvedi was a dreamy eyed 21-year-old, who thought he would be “launched” into the movies after he was signed on for a big film, which was scrapped within six months of going into workshops. The actor said the rejection was a big “jolt”, which led him to shave off his hair as a reaction.
Siddhant, who followed his Gully Boy popularity with films like Gehraiyaan, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and his latest Yudhra, said he was “rejected a lot” in the initial five years of his struggles and recalled how he “almost came on board” some big films of the times, but something didn’t work out.
“I was 21-22 at that time, I had auditioned for a film and got selected for that role. The workshop went on for six months, so I started doing my hair and wearing clothes according to my character. But the film later got scrapped. Whenever I would look in the mirror, I would just see that character. So I shaved my hair! It was a big jolt for me,” the actor said in an interview with Mashable India.

Siddhant Chaturvedi said he was only a 21-year-old boy with acting dreams, who thought his life will now be “set after this film” and was thrilled that is “getting launched.” None of that happened, which shocked the actor.
“I can’t disclose which production house, but the film was never made. When I had bagged it at a young age, I thought oh well, this was easy, but later it jolted me. I was really low and for the next three months after that, till my hair didn’t grow, I was in a Zen mode after that.
“All my friends were doing CA, and I had left even that. My mother told me I should at least sit for the CA final, as I was doing nothing anyway. But my father motivated me, he said, ‘Jaha sankalp hai toh vikalp nahi hona chahiye‘ (if there is an aim, there shouldn’t be an option). So I removed all my options and surrendered myself to acting,” he added.
His latest actioner Yudhra, co-starring Malavika Mohanan, opened to mixed reception and eventually tanked at the box office. He will be next seen in Dhadak 2, also featuring Triptii Dimri.
