Shubh Mangal Savdhan director RS Prasanna to collaborate with Siddharth Roy Kapur in his next

Director RS Prasanna’s debut Bollywood film Shubh Mangal Savdhan was a surprise hit.

Directed by RS Prasanna and starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhan’, emerged as one of the surprise hits in Bollywood this year. The film was a remake of the director’s 2013 Tamil film, ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’. This was Prasanna’s first Hindi film and in less than 2 months of its release, the director has bagged his next Hindi project as well. Collaborating with producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, the director will soon embark on his journey to make another Bollywood film. Prasanna shares, “I have great respect for Siddharth and his creative vision which is evident in the films he has backed over the past decade. It is an honour and delight to work with him. I am excited about our collaboration and I’m sure it will be a great experience. We hope to give the audiences a truly special film through our collaboration. I believe post the success of Shubh Mangal Savadhan, partnering with Sid excites me as a filmmaker who wants to tell unusual stories that celebrate life in all its ordinariness.”

Sidharth Roy Kapur confirmed the news as well, “Yes, Prasanna and I will be collaborating on his next film and I am very happy to be working with him. Like the rest of the country, I absolutely loved Shubh Mangal Savdhan. RS is an extremely talented filmmaker with a fresh voice and has an ability to make unique content reach out to a mainstream audience. I am sure that together we will make a memorable film.”

The duo has met on several occasions and is close to finalising the subject for the upcoming film.

After a long stint at Disney and UTV, Siddharth Roy Kapur has now founded his own production company Roy Kapur Films. Siddharth has been involved in producing films like ‘Dangal’, ‘Haider’, ‘Barfi’, among many others. With Roy Kapur Films, he aims to set new benchmarks in cinema. The production company has a few noteworthy films in the pipeline that include a biopic on Rakesh Sharma, where Aamir Khan will reportedly be seen playing the astronaut. Dangal director, Nitesh Tiwari’s next film, is also being produced by RKF and is based on the book, ‘How I braved Anu Aunty and Cofounded a Million Dollar Company’. Along with producing films, RKF has entered the digital media space by entering a partnership with Reliance Jio to produce original video content too.

This will be Prasanna’s second Hindi film and the way his first film charmed the audience, his next will definitely be something to watch out for.
