Sushant Singh Rajput passed away in 2020 and many of his colleagues from the film and television industry often speak about the times they spent with him on set. In a recent interview, actor Shishir Sharma, who worked with the late actor in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore, opened up about the time they would have lunch together during his Pavitra Rishta days and how he invited Shishir to “see the stars” from his telescope.

Shishir shared with Rajshri Unplugged, “I had known him because he used to do Pavitra Rishta in Film City and we used to do Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli in Film City. He used to come over for lunch, we used to go for lunch to his set. That is the kind of friendship we had, but we never worked together.”

Shishir Sharma recalled that when he landed on the set of Chhichhore, he immediately asked for Sushant Singh Rajput and shared a warm hug. “Both of us hugged each other,” he recalled. Shishir shared that he worked for 10-12 days on Chhichhore and the time he spent with the late actor was “absolutely fantastic”.

“He was extremely genuine. We used to only talk about astronomy. We never spoke about anything else. He used to tell me, ‘Shishir, come home. I have a telescope where you can actually see the stars. So I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll come’. I wish I had gone and seen through his telescope the stars that he was talking about. He himself being a star,” he recalled.

The actor said that was in “shock” when he heard about Sushant’s death and it did not “sink in so easily”. “Even if you are not close to him but the very fact that I had just done a film with him and we had bonded so well, so beautifully…” he shared.

Shishir Sharma recalled that Sushant Singh Rajput would never go inside his van and the two of them with Shraddha Kapoor, who also starred in the film, shared tea after every scene. “He was a very intelligent boy, extremely well-versed, extremely articulate in what he was saying. He just did not faff around. It was difficult to even fathom what had happened,” he recalled.

Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14, 2020 at his Mumbai residence.
