Shekhar Kapur recalls ‘hating’ mathematics in school due to dyslexia, reveals how AI has helped him ‘love visual maths’

In 2018, Shekhar Kapur had also opened up about having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He had expressed gratitude for not being sent to a special school, as that would have hampered his creativity. The filmmaker had shared, “Lessons of Life : I am completely dyslexic and have intense ADD. I don’t know what else! Thank God there were no special schools for kids like me when I was growing up. They would have beaten out all the rebellion in me. Certainly would not have made any films. Or been creative.”

The filmmaker, who has had successful careers in India and Hollywood, recently returned to feature filmmaking after a gap of 16 years with the British romantic comedy What’s Love Got To Do With It?, starring Shabana Azmi, Emma Thompson, Lily James, Shazad Latif and Sajal Aly.
