Actor Sharib Hashmi, who is known for his work in web shows like The Family Man and Asur, recently opened up about the time when he was going through a golden period in his career, but was facing one of the worst times in his personal life. Sharib spoke about his wife Nasreen’s oral cancer diagnosis, and said that it was “very tough for the family,” and their lives were never the same after she was diagnosed.

In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Sharib said that his wife was first diagnosed in 2018, but just as she was going through this difficult period, he started getting offers for prominent roles. One of those jobs was The Family Man. Sharib said that this was the universe’s way of balancing the scales, as the family went through their worst and best at the same time.

“I don’t know what to call it… this is a divine mystery, but after she was diagnosed, and she got operated, I started getting work. I got The Family Man and Asur after that,” he shared, and added, “My career was doing fine, but she was struggling with cancer.” Sharib spoke about his wife’s strong will, and said that while she doing fine now, she has been through surgery four times in the past, and each time, she has bounced back within 4-5 days. “I have never seen anyone who has such a strong will,” he said.

Sharib also opened up about his kids, and said that they became mature at a young age because they could see their mother going through a health crisis. “They grew up and became mature, they would see their mother getting weak, her face had changed,” he said.

In the same chat, Sharib also credited his wife for supporting him through his struggling days. He shared, “It was my wife Nasreen who supported me and stood by my side. She told me, ‘If this is what you want to do in life, then I am with you.’ She had left her job after our son was born. But when we exhausted all our savings, it was she who took up a job again to support the family. She was dabbling with her job and family together. Hats off to her.”

Sharib Hashmi was recently seen in the ZEE5 film Tarla.
