Shahid Kapoor says wife Mira took ‘strong decision’ to prioritise motherhood before pursuing her career: ‘I am very proud of her’

Actor Shahid Kapoor surprised many when he married 21-year-old Mira Rajput on July 7, 2015. It was an arranged marriage and they shared an age gap of thirteen years. Just a year after their wedding, the couple welcomed their first child, Misha Kapoor. Two years later, they welcomed their son, Zain Kapoor. In 2023, Mira turned entrepreneur with the skincare brand Akind. At the latest edition of SCREEN Live in Mumbai, Shahid shared how Mira took the ‘strong decision’ to prioritise motherhood before pursuing her career.

Speaking about his wife Mira at SCREEN LIVE, Shahid Kapoor, “I think Mira has her own personality and I have mine. Definitely, she has began to do a lot of things lately. She had made a very strong decision of first having her kids and then chasing her career. And I think that has worked in her favour.”

He added, “Now our kids are much older and she has a lot of time for herself. She is building on things and she did do what she thought she wanted to do as a mother and she dedicated her time. Now, she can slowly feel freer and doing things she wanted to do. I feel prouder and rooting for her.”

Shahid Kapoor further shared that Mira Rajput was there for him every time he needed her. He said, “She has been there as a friend, partner, and support system to me and now its my turn so I am more than happy to be there for her in whatever way. I am very proud of her.”
