Shahid Kapoor and Mira Kapoor recently visited Delhi for the inauguration of the first store of their latest investment, Athletifreak. Their latest investment is an athleisure brand from the US, which is starting its business in India. The website of the brand has also gone live and upon taking a look, one can tell that this is not for the average Shahid fan. From a women’s blazer for Rs 12,999 to a regular Polo shirt for Rs 7,499, this is a story meant for those who have a little spare change to spend on their outfits.

A report in Economic Times suggests that the store currently has 200 SKUs (stock keeping unit) which will increase to 550 in the next three months. On the website, a men’s hoodie is being sold for Rs 11,499, and a pair of men’s shorts is being sold for Rs 7,499, and a men’s jacket is priced at Rs 8,999. For women, a pair of leggings is priced at Rs 7,999 and a sports bra is priced at Rs 6,999 and a skirt is being sold for Rs 9,999.

In a chat with Business Today, Shahid shared that the clothes at Athletifreak are about “expressing yourself physically and mentally.” He added, “It’s not about how you look, it’s about where you are in your head and when you channel and connect with that aspect of yourself, that’s when you become an Athletifreak.”

He shared that the brand is meant for those people who travel abroad to buy their gym clothes. “I know people who travel abroad just to get stuff that they can wear to the gym and I am like, ‘Why? We should have a store at a mall close to us which has the quality that it takes to satisfy a customer who is used to something of that standard’. And we just felt this was the perfect timing to start this,” he said.

Athletifreak is founded by Mo and Noor Wadhwani, and Priya and Vidit Tulshan are the CEO and COO of the company. Noor and Priya are Mira’s sisters, so, in a way, this business has all the Rajput sisters working together, along with their spouses.

Previously, Mira started Dhun Wellness in Mumbai, where Shahid is also an investor. She also has a skincare line called Akind.
