At the recently held 2024 Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards in Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor award for his recent film, Jawan. On Tuesday, SRK secured the Best Actor award after many years, revealing that he was wondering if he would ever get an award again. In an emotional acceptance speech, he thanked his fans, jury, and contemporaries, and opened up about how he often finds himself filled with self-doubt.
Expressing gratitude, the Pathaan actor said, “Shukriya sari jury member ka jinhone mujhko Best actor ke liye layak samjha… aur bahut saal ho gaye mujhe best actor ka award nahin mila toh aisa lagne laga tha ki ab milega hi nahin. Mujhe bahut khushi hai. Mujhe awards bahut ache lagte hain, main thoda lalchi hoon (I thank the jury who considered me worthy of the Best Actor Award. I haven’t been given the Best Actor Award in a long time. It seemed as if I would not get it again. So, I am extremely happy. I love receiving awards. I am a bit greedy).”
Shah Rukh extended his gratitude to the Jawan director Atlee, co-stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, singer-songwriter Anirudh Ravichander, and the entire cast and crew, adding that he was touched by the honor. He emphasised, “I am genuinely thrilled and touched that people have recognised the work that I have put in. The work of an artist is not important; all the people around him or her make everything come together.” Nayanthara, his co-star in Jawan, was awarded the Best Actress for her outstanding performance in Jawan, which was presented to her by Shah Rukh himself.
He continued, “I am genuinely thrilled and touched that people have recognised the work that I have put in. The work of an artist is not important; all the people around him or her make everything come together.” SRK, during his speech, noted that filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra was happier than him for this win. “We will both share it,” he quipped.

The actor promised that he will keep working hard and entertaining India and people who are living abroad for as many years as he could. “Whether it takes me to dance, to fall, to fly, to romance, to be evil, to be a bad guy, to be a good guy. Inshallah, I will keep working hard,” said SRK as he graciously accepted the award.
