Shah Rukh Khan thought Gauri Khan ‘would die’ giving birth to son Aryan Khan: ‘Got scared, didn’t even think about the kid’
Shah Rukh Khan revealed that he named his son Aryan with the idea that the name would impress girls.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, with a career spanning 31 years since his debut film Deewana, has amassed a colossal following of devoted fans. Shah Rukh is married to Gauri Khan, and together they have three children– Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam. The couple’s relationship has been admired by their fans, and their love story is often seen as an inspiration.
Shah Ruh had just started enjoying the perks of stardom when he welcomed his son Aryan in 1997. In an interview with Rediff in 1998, the actor spoke about the time when his son was born and how he was scared for Gauri’s life when she gave birth.
The actor expressed his aversion towards hospitals due to the unfortunate loss of his parents. Thus, witnessing Gauri connected to various tubes and medical equipment during her hospitalisation deeply affected him. He said, “I went with her to the operation theatre for her Caesarean. And I thought she’d die. Didn’t even think about the kid at that point in time. It wasn’t important to me. She was shivering so much and I know logically that you don’t die while giving birth to babies. But still, I just got a little scared.”

Shah Rukh also revealed the reason behind choosing the name Aryan for his son and said that he just liked the sound of the name. He said, “I thought when he tells a girl that my name is Aryan, Aryan Khan, she’ll be really impressed.” SRK added that Aryan got his looks from both Gauri and him. “I don’t know… He’s got expressions like mine, I think… But he’s a mixture. And no, I haven’t changed any diapers.”
The actor was recently seen in the blockbuster movie Pathaan. Also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, the film was a riot at the box office. Shah Rukh will next be seen in Atlee’s Jawan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki.
