Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pardes was released in August 1997, just a few months before his wife, Gauri Khan, gave birth to their first son, Aryan Khan. In a recent interview, the director of the film, Subhash Ghai, shared a BTS anecdote about the shooting of the popular romantic song “Yeh Dil Deewana”, which marked the first collaboration between SRK and singer Sonu Nigam. He revealed that Shah Rukh had to film the track amid Gauri’s pregnancy complications.

During a chat with Bollywood Hungama, director Subhash Ghai revealed that “Yeh Dil Deewana” was one of the last songs to be shot, with only two days remaining in the filming schedule. Shah Rukh was very cooperative during the shoot, but had to hurry to Delhi due to Gauri’s condition. “We kept this song for the last. We had two days left. Shah Rukh Khan was cooperative throughout the movie but towards the end, he had to leave two days before because I think Gauri was probably pregnant. He said that he needs to go to Delhi and cannot extend for another 2-3 days,” he said.

The first day of filming the song was in Los Angeles. Shah Rukh Khan had to cut his time short the next day, so the director asked him to start early. “I asked him to come at 7 in the morning and the car was ready and I asked him to just give three close-up shots. I picturised the song in 2 hours that morning,” Subhash added. The rest of the sequences of the movie were shot with a body double to avoid delay.
