Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Jr NTR ad filmmakers SS Rajamouli and Aditya Chopra have all come together-in a list. International publication Variety on Thursday published its list of 500 most important people in global media. Titled Variety500, the list features seven names from the film industry, including producers Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ektaa Kapoor and Bhushan Kumar. According to the publications, they were selected by the Variety editorial board, "which conducted extensive research for its selections." Describing Shah Rukh, who has had a triumphant comeback at the box office this year with Pathaan and Jawan, the publication stated that the "great romantic star of the modern era" reinvented himself as an action hero. "Next up is Christmas release “Dunki,” a dramedy from hitmaker Rajkumar Hirani, with “Tiger vs Pathaan,” the next in the Bollywood spy-universe films, due to commence in 2024." Jr NTR, who shot to international fame with SS Rajamouli's RRR, was also on the list for capturing the minds and hearts of the global audience. "NTR Jr, as he is known, has the chameleon-like ability to slip into any role while maintaining the larger-than-life hero quality that is essential for mainstream Indian cinema success," the note read. RRR filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who became the biggest global sensation of the year, was dubbed as India’s most commercially successful director. Aditya Chopra witnessed a historic year for his production house Yash Raj Films as they released Pathaan earlier this year and created new records, and also started a new Rs 500-cr club for Hindi films. "Chopra helped build buzz for the film by reopening single-screen theaters across India that had shuttered during the pandemic," the note for him read. Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, who started his independent production journey with Priyanka Chopra starrer The Sky is Pink, was credited in the list for exploring "pivotal moments in the region’s history" with films like his latest war drama Pippa. After winning the International Emmys, Ektaa Kapoor found a spot on the coveted list, which noted the "magnitude" of her accomplishments and lauded her journey. Describing him as the "younger Kumar", the publication noted how the producer took over the business at the tender age of 19 after his father, Gulshan Kumar, passed away, and "grew it to its current level." Bhushan is currently riding high on the blockbuster success of his latest, Animal. Apart from them, other names to feature on the list include industrialist Mukesh Ambani, Red Sea Film Festival founder Shivani Pandya Malhotra and NP Singh, CEO of Sony Pictures.
