Shabana Azmi recalls the Manmohan Desai film where she ‘had a blast’ with Neetu Kapoor. See here
Shabana Azmi shared a fun blast from the past from the time she worked with Neetu Kapoor on Parvarish.

Shabana Azmi took to her social media to share a throwback photo from her 1977 film Parvarish with Neetu Kapoor. The film had the two actors playing pickpockets who fall in love with Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna’s characters. Shabana shared the throwback photo with the caption, “#Neetu Singh sent this to me – a still from #Manmohan Desai’s #Parvarish – a film we both had a blast doing.”
Zoya Akhtar posted a smile emoji in the comments section of the post and Sandhya Mridul wrote that Parvarish was the film that “confirmed” that she wanted to be an actor. Divya Dutta shared that the actors looked “stunning”.
Manmohan Desai directorial Parvarish marked the first collaboration of Shabana Azmi and Neetu Kapoor. They next worked together on Amar Akbar Anthony, which was also directed by Desai.

Shabana, in an earlier chat with IANS, shared that she got the offer of Amar Akbar Anthony after working with Desai on Parvarish. She recalled that the director had told her that there was no big role for her but he cast her just to keep his “sanity”. She shared, “One day while Parvarish was in the last lap, he came to meet me in Ranjit Studios and he said, ‘Shabana I am producing a film for the first time and of course directing it as well and I want you to be a part of it.’”
She further recalled, “He said, ‘Frankly, there is no big role for you in it but woh Vinod Khanna meri jaan kha jaayega (he will annoy me). He will say that there is a heroine opposite Amitabh and Rishi then why isn’t there a heroine opposite me. So I am just ghusaoing (pushing) you in to keep my sanity.’ I found it so amusing, warm and lovely that he was not making any excuses and was saying it as it is.”
