The 76th edition of the prestigious film festival kicked off on Tuesday with the premiere of the Louis XV period drama Jeanne du Barry, starring Johnny Depp. While Sara wore an Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla golden embroidered lehenga, Esha looked stunning in a Nicolas Jebran couture gown. I have always aspired to be here. I can’t believe I am here.” Talking about her dress, the actor said, “My look is Abu and Sandeep. It is traditional Indian handmade work. I have always been very proud of my Indianness and therefore this embodies who I am. I think it's fresh, it's modern but also traditional.” Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan is leading the Indian delegation to Cannes 2023. Oscar winner Guneet Mongia and actors Manushi Chillar, Esha Gupta and Kangabam Tomba are part of the delegation. Anushka Sharma is one of the major figures from Indian cinema who is making her Cannes debut this year. She will be honouring women in cinema along with Hollywood star Kate Winslet. Meanwhile, the ever-stunning Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a Cannes regular, left for the film festival on Tuesday. While Agra will have its world premiere in the Directors' Fortnight section, Kennedy, Nehemich and Ishanou will be showcased in the Midnight Screenings, La Cinef and Cannes Classics section, respectively.
