Sam Bahadur box office collection day 11: Vicky Kaushal film recovers budget, passes Rs 70 crore worldwide

Sam Bahadur box office collection day 11: The lifetime total of Meghna Gulzar's film, starring Vicky Kaushal, now stands at a disappointing Rs 58.55 cr.

Actor Vicky Kaushal’s war biopic, Sam Bahadur, had a low second Monday. But having braved the Animal tsunami for 11 full days, the film managed to put up a decent total. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Sam Bahadur netted an estimated Rs 2 crore on its second Monday. This is the film’s lowest single-day haul since its release on December 1, but it wasn’t entirely unexpected. Even Animal registered its lowest single-day haul on its second Monday, although it made Rs 11 crore more than Sam Bahadur.

Based on the life and times of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Sam Bahadur’s domestic collections now stand at Rs 58.55 cr, an impressive figure considering the film opened to mixed reviews and had to face a mighty competition like Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. At best, the Meghna Gulzar directorial can now hope to maintain the collections throughout this week to end its lifetime total on a good number in the north of Rs 80 crore. The film was produced on a reported budget of Rs 55 crore.

Sam Bahadur and Animal should both see marginal spikes in their third weekends — the only window they have for before the Christmas biggies take over. In nine days, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki will hit the screens followed by the Prabhas-starrer Salaar, which arrives on December 22.

Sam Bahadur was Vicky’s third release of the year after the disappointing The Great Indian Family and the hit Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. He’ll also be seen in a special appearance in Dunki, which is directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
