‘Salman Khan wasn’t even there, didn’t fire shots,’ says Salim Khan about son’s Blackbuck case; feels Lawrence Bishnoi threat is ‘extortion’: ‘Why should he apologise?’

Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan says the death threats issued by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi against his son Salman Khan is merely an “extortion” tactic as the superstar wasn’t involved in the blackbuck case of 1998. Bishnoi’s claims that Salman will be “forgiven” if he apologises for hunting the animal, Salim said, doesn’t hold true as the actor hadn’t committed the crime in the first place.

During an interview with ABP News, Salim was asked about Salman’s alleged involvement in the incident, which took place during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hai in Rajasthan.

“Salman Khan jaanwaro se bohut pyaar karta hai (Salman Khan loves animals). He had a dog whom he loved and treated well. When he fell ill and died, Salman cried. I asked him (about the blackbuck incident) who had done it? He said, ‘I wasn’t even there.’ He won’t lie to me. He doesn’t fancy killing animals, he loves animals,” Salim Khan said, adding that his family has never even used a gun, let alone hunt.

The brutal murder of his close friend, politician Baba Siddique, who was shot dead in Bandra allegedly by members of notorious criminal Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, had led to claims that Salman Khan’s blackbuck case was a trigger for the same as the late politician was trying to protect the superstar.

When asked if Salman would apologise to the Bishnoi community, Salim Khan said that would mean acceptance of a crime that was never committed. He said, “Doing this makes him accept, ‘I’ve done it’. He hasn’t killed, I haven’t killed any animal, nor has Salman. We have never even killed a cockroach. We don’t believe in it.”

The Navi Mumbai police on Thursday arrested a person from Haryana for allegedly conducting a recce along with others at actor Salman Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel in February. It was believed to be the second plot to attack actor Salman Khan, with the first being the firing outside his Bandra residence in Mumbai on April 14.

Salman Khan has been on the radar of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is believed to be involved in both cases in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The Mumbai Police believe that this is a bid by Bishnoi to gain a foothold in Mumbai and begin extortion in the city.

The police said that Bishnoi has several independent groups working at different locations and they suspect one gang was conducting recce in Panvel while the other was in Mumbai.
