Lyricist Sameer Anjaan, known for penning some of the most iconic songs in the Hindi film industry, recently spoke about his bond with superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. The veteran lyricist shared that he began his career around the same time the two actors made their debuts, and despite their eventual immense stardom, he added, they have never shown arrogance towards him. He also highlighted his contribution to their rise to superstardom through his songs.

Speaking to Lallantop about his connection with Salman and Shah Rukh, Sameer shared how they started their journeys together. Recalling that Shah Rukh was deeply involved in the music sessions of Deewana (1992), he also mentioned that both actors would personally request him for hit songs when they worked together.

He said, “Salman is a superstar today but we started our careers together. I remember Shah Rukh Khan would sit in so many sittings of Deewana. They always used to tell me, ‘Sir you give all the hit tracks to Rishi bhaiya (Rishi Kapoor)… give us at least one superhit song.’ Then I wrote Shah Rukh’s songs ‘Koi Na Koi Chahiye’ and ‘Aisi Deewangi’.”

Many of my superhit songs were performed by Salman and Shah Rukh. So, I have had very friendly relations with both the actors.”

Beyond their professional collaborations, Sameer revealed, his special bond with Salman Khan was largely due to his close friendship with the actor’s father, legendary screenwriter Salim Khan. He further spoke about penning songs for Salman’s upcoming film Sikandar as well. “I have a special bond with Salman because I was also good friends with his father Salim Khan. I was a regular at Salman’s house and would meet his family often. We were like family. He was never arrogant with me. Even Salman’s latest film Sikandar’s track is being talked about. So I never had a problem with the two,” he said.

Sameer has penned numerous blockbuster songs over the years, contributing to films like Beta, Saajan, Raja Babu, Coolie No. 1, Raja Hindustani, Anjaam, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Fiza, Dhadkan, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Devdas, Raaz, Dil Hai Tumhaara, and Ishq Vishk, among many others.
