Salman Khan is one of the biggest superstars in India, and also one of the highest paid. But his brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan revealed that they ‘pay’ him a little more than his market price when they hire him for their productions. In a recent interview, Arbaaz shared that they maintain utmost professionalism when they are on set with Salman.

“He should not feel ghar ki murgi daal barabar (not valuing the superstar in the house). On set, he gets the respect of a superstar,” Arbaaz said in a chat with Timeout With Ankit. Arbaaz said that they have to be really careful about not taking Salman for granted, so he doesn’t end up feeling like he is being taken advantage of. “He should not feel that ‘because I am your brother, you call me before time, you make me do more work’. So, we have to be more careful. We have to treat him like how others treat him on set, which is his profession, which I have to respect. He is not my brother on set, he is my brother at home,” Arbaaz said.

Arbaaz shared that while he can take a few liberties with Salman, that does not mean that he can ignore his demands. “I can take a a few liberties with him. But I can’t get away with not fulfilling his demands. That’s not even right,” he said, and added, “We feel that we have to keep that integrity, that professionalism going.”

Arbaaz said as far as money is concerned, they pay Salman whatever his market price might be at that time. In fact, they have often paid him more than his market price and it helps in bumping up his price for the next film. “In terms of the commercials also, when he is working with us, whatever his market price is at that time is what we both achieve and give it to him. We have always given him the highest price that he has got from all his films,” he said. Arbaaz said that during Dabangg, they paid Salman more than his market price, and this became his quote for the films that followed. The same was the case with Dabangg 2.

“He is bringing so much to the table, so he deserves that. It’s not like it’s going from my pocket. He is a superstar, there is money involved, he is getting that. That’s how his price also increased. You have to respect people’s value,” he said.

Salman has worked with Arbaaz’s production company in the Dabangg series.
