‘Salman Khan danced more perfectly than Govinda in Partner, he practiced a lot,’ recalls composer Sajid: ‘Bhai usually doesn’t do that much’

Sajid, of the music composer duo Sajid-Wajid, recalled that Salman Khan put in some extra effort to match up to Govinda for Partner.

Sajid-Wajid composed some of the most popular Hindi film songs in the 2000s and worked extensively with Salman Khan in many of his movies like Partner, Dabangg, Wanted among others. In a recent interview, Sajid recalled the time when he worked with Govinda and Salman in the David Dhawan film Partner and how Salman rehearsed the dance steps religiously because he wanted to match up to Govinda, who is known for his dance style.

In a chat with the YouTube channel The Music Podcast, Sajid shared that it was a “lot of fun working with Govinda” and mentioned that as kids, him and his brother Wajid would dance to songs like “Husn Hai Suhana”. For them, Partner was a dream come true and they promised Salman that they would “make him dance”.

Sajid remembered with a laugh that Salman Khan was quite impressed by Govinda’s dancing skills and knew that he had to practice a lot. “Salman bhai said Govinda is a very good dancer. He said he’ll have to practice a lot,” the composer said. He added that Salman has danced even more perfectly than Govinda in some of the songs in Partner as he had practiced a lot. “If you watch the songs of Partner, you will notice that Salman is dancing more perfectly than Govinda. Even though Salman bhai usually doesn’t do that much, he would just move on the beat but because Govinda was there, he practiced too much,” he said.
