What ChatGPT told Saiyaara writers when asked suggestions for Mohit Suri film’s climax: ‘Hero and heroine should die’

Saiyaara chatgptBefore deciding the film's end, Saiyaara writers asked ChatGPT to suggest a climax.

Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri, and starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has become one of the most successful love stories from Bollywood. The film’s writers, Sankalp Sadanah and Rohan Shankar, recently shared that when they were trying to come up with the film’s climax, they tried everything but couldn’t find a solution that fit the tone of their film. Sankalp, who worked on the film’s climax with director Mohit Suri, said that at one point, one of his assistants asked ChatGPT for suggestions for the film’s climax, in jest. The answer that the AI app came up with left them in stitches.

In a chat with Komal Nahta on his YouTube channel, Sankalp was asked about how he came up with the film’s beautiful happy ending and he shared that he had written the entire screenplay of the film, but was yet to crack the climax. He shared, “We had written the whole story but we were yet to crack the climax. We didn’t know what the resolution of the film will be. At that point, I had an assistant Chetan Naidu and he asked ChatGPT also, just for fun. There was no seriousness behind it. He asked, ‘How would Mohit Suri end such a movie?’ And it responded by saying that hero and heroine should both die.”

Sankalp laughed as he shared this anecdote and said that even Mohit Suri was thinking that the heroine’s story could end in tragedy, given her condition. “Even Mohit was thinking that given the heroine’s condition, it was inching towards a tragedy. But we couldn’t crack it. Then one day, I was stuck in traffic and it just came to me,” he said.

Saiyaara has turned out to be the second biggest hit of the year, and has made over Rs 300 crore nett in the domestic market. Globally, the film has grossed over Rs 500 crore and it just inches away from crossing Pathaan’s record at the global box office. At a time when Hindi films have largely not been performing well at the box office, Saiyaara’s success has shocked industry experts. In the last few years, films with newcomers have not been successful in attracting the audience, which is why Saiyaara’s success is being seen as an anomaly.
