Saira Banu on Sunday extended a heartfelt birthday wish to entrepreneur Gauri Khan, calling her an “elegant, hardworking, trendsetting” woman.

The veteran actor said both Gauri and her superstar husband Shah Rukh Khan stood by her and Dilip Kumar in “good and bad times”. Saira took to Instagram stories and shared a picture of Gauri, writing that she has closely seen her transform over the years.

“Many happy returns of the day, Gauri! We both share the remarkable experience of being a superstar’s spouse. I have closely seen you transitioning from a bubbly, effervescent young wife to an elegant, hardworking, and a trendsetting woman.

“The way you handle this precious feeling truly resonates with me. It brings back memories of my time with Dilip Sahib. @iamsrk and you have always stood by Dilip Sahib and me in good and bad times. Sending you an abundance of love and blessings on this special day,” she wrote.

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan have been extremely close to Saira Banu, who would often say that if she and late actor Dilip Kumar ever had a son he would be like the superstar. During an interview with Mumbai Mirror in 2017, Saira recalled how she and Dilip were present at the muhurat ceremony of Hema Malini’s directorial Dil Aashna Hai, which starred SRK and Divya Bharti in the lead roles.

“Dilip saab gave the ceremonial clap (Dil Aashna Hai). I have always said that if we had a son, he might have looked like Shah Rukh. Both he and saab are a lot alike and have similar hair, which is why I like to run my fingers through Shah Rukh Khan when we meet. This time (during one of their earlier meetings) he asked me, ‘Aaj aap mere baalon ko haath nahin laga rahi hain?’ I was happy to,” she had said.
