Actors often undergo intense body transformations to fit the physical demands of their roles. Bollywood star Aamir Khan is known for such transformations in films like Ghajini and Dangal. Similarly, Hollywood actor Joaquin Phoenix shed several kilos to appear drastically thin for his role in Joker. However, achieving such extreme changes often involves rigorous diets that can sometimes pose serious health risks.

In a recent interaction on Cyrus Broacha’s YouTube channel, actor Rohit Roy revealed how he followed a diet while preparing for his role in the 2007 film Shootout at Lokhandwala. He admitted the lengths he went to for the role were extreme and unhealthy. “I went on a really stupid diet, and I will never do that again. I had to look emaciated. I lost 16 kgs in 25-26 days. I was on a water diet. It was really intense,” Rohit shared.

Discussing the risks involved with such diets, Rohit explained, “Yes, it is dangerous for the organs, and that’s why I called it stupid. I won’t do it again for anything. I’ve heard stories of actors in Hollywood following similar diets, and some have actually died in the process.”

Rohit also highlighted the dangers of taking fitness inspiration from social media. He advised fans to be cautious and not rely on what actors portray online. “To get out of the diet is also a struggle. It plays on your mind because you look a certain way while following it, and then you want to look like that forever—but nobody can maintain that look forever. I always say, don’t go by my Instagram account; I’m putting my best version there,” he insisted.

Shootout at Lokhandwala was directed by Apoorva Lakhia and also starred Vivek Oberoi, Tusshar Kapoor and others in pivotal roles.
