Rituraj Singh’s viral photo with Shah Rukh Khan, Divya Seth from theatre days sparks memories: ‘Poignant today’

Following the passing of actor Rituraj Singh on Tuesday, many of his friends and family members took to social media to reminisce about the cherished memories they shared with him. Among the shared photographs were some featuring Rituraj and Shah Rukh Khan during their time together at Barry John’s Theatre Action Group (TAG). Sanjoy K Roy, who was also part of the same theatre group along with SRK and Rituraj, recently shared an unseen photo from their past.

The image harks back to a time when Shah Rukh and Rituraj were solely immersed in theatre before venturing into films. In the photo, Shah Rukh is captured standing at a railway station with Sanjoy, Rituraj, and Divya Seth in the background as they embark on a journey to Calcutta to perform the play Rough Crossing. Sanjoy shared the throwback photo, reflecting on the poignant moment, especially in light of Rituraj’s recent passing.

Sanjoy shared the throwback photo and wrote, “This photo keeps doing the rounds. Poignant today as news spreads of the passing of film, TV, theater actor #rituraj. Rituraj, aged 59, succumbed to a fatal cardiac arrest. In an earlier interview with indianexpress.com, he had reminisced about his close bond with Shah Rukh Khan during their time as students at Barry John’s TAG. He recalled their discussions about life and their shared passion for acting, emphasising Shah Rukh’s unwavering dedication to the craft.

“We used to discuss many things about life. At that age, you are just filled up with everyday stuff and there is an everyday high. We used to rehearse together and play football, among other things. Somewhere down the line, he got the feeling that acting is something that his life is all about and thank God it happened, or else, we wouldn’t have had a magnet of a miraculous star today,” he had said.
