Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming biopic M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story, which is set to be dubbed in Marathi, says he is excited with the local language release as the regional language film industry is booming.
The film, which is based on Indian cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has already been dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. This would be the first time a Hindi biopic is getting a Marathi release.
“The love for M.S. Dhoni in this country is unparalleled. Through this film, our effort is to show his life, his journey, his struggle… The regional language film industry is booming and the set of audiences seeing local language content is fairly different than those watching Hindi cinema,” Pandey said in a statement.
The Baby helmer adds that Dhoni’s life is a universal story. “It transcends languages, people across the country love him for his work towards our motherland and we are excited to present Dhoni’s life closer to his fans through these local language releases,” he added.
Co-produced by Arun Pandey and Fox Star studios, MS Dhoni – The Untold Story, which stars Sushant Singh Rajput, is set to release on September 30.
Neeraj is going to do yet another movie – Crack with Akshay Kumar that will be released on Independence Day weekend next year. Akshay and Neeraj have already collaborated for movies like Baby and Special 26. Neeraj is also one of the producers of Rustom. All these films have similar elements of loyalty, courage and a strong sense of duty in the face of the rampant crisis like terrorism and corruption plaguing the country.
Neeraj has also given us A Wednesday which, which was a powerful tale of a common man grappling with harsh realities of bomb blasts. And at the end, the same man emerges out to be a hero.
