Photos and videos of the duo greeting each other warmly on the red carpet quickly went viral, leading fans to wonder if the much-awaited film is finally moving ahead.

After impressing audiences with the high-voltage trailer of his upcoming film Dhurandhar, Ranveer made time to attend the premiere of his friend Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur. The event witnessed a star-studded turnout, including Rekha, Kajol, Kapil Sharma, Hrithik Roshan with Saba Azad, Zayed Khan, Chunky and Bhavana Pandey, Tabu, Vedang Raina, Rhea Chakraborty, Waheeda Rehman, Tiger Shroff, and even cricketer Sachin Tendulkar with wife Anjali.

However, it was Ranveer’s simple black kurta–pyjama look and his cheerful presence that captured all the attention. At the event, he was also seen greeting Sachin Tendulkar and later joined Farhan, Hrithik, and Kapil Sharma at the film’s after-party.

In August 2023, Farhan officially announced that Ranveer Singh would take over as the new Don in the third installment of the iconic franchise through a special teaser. The video featured Ranveer seated in a high-rise, lighting a cigarette, introducing himself as Don, and then dramatically turning to the camera.

While Kiara Advani was initially reported to star opposite Ranveer, it is now believed that Kriti Sanon has been roped in as the female lead. However, an official confirmation about the rest of the cast is still pending, and details about the plot remain under wraps.

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, a source told Subhash K. Jha that the delay in Don 3 was unavoidable. Ranveer needed time to allow online trolling—after replacing Shah Rukh Khan in the franchise—to subside. Farhan and Ranveer mutually agreed to wait before restarting work. The role also demands extensive physical and martial arts training, requiring Ranveer to prepare mentally and physically. Meanwhile, Farhan became occupied with his own acting commitments, especially the demanding war drama 120 Bahadur, where he plays Major Shaitan Singh.

Don 3 is expected to go on floors in January 2026, with a planned theatrical release in December 2026.

The Don franchise began with the 2006 film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Boman Irani. The movie won Best Asian Film at the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival. Its sequel released in 2011 and was declared a hit. Both films were directed by Farhan Akhtar and were remakes of the 1978 classic Don starring Amitabh Bachchan.
