After Mukesh Khanna refuted claims that Ranveer Singh would be playing the character of Shaktimaan in a film adaptation of the iconic TV show, speculations began circulating that the Gully Boy actor is instead producing a series on the character. However, Ranveer’s team has now issued a clarification, denying all such claims. The actor’s team shared a statement that read, “The news about Ranveer Singh acquiring rights of developing a new superhero (Shaktimaan) project as the producer holds no truth. Mukesh said, “It was an arranged meeting organized by Sony, where Ranveer came to convince me that he could play Shaktimaan. This wasn’t the first time he showed interest in the role.” Mukesh added that instead of Shaktimaan, he wanted Ranveer to play Tamraj Kilvish, the iconic villain of the TV show. "He wanted to convince me that he can play Shaktimaan. That meeting ended in no result,” he said. He said, “Ten years ago, Aditya Chopra’s team contacted me, asking if I could give them the rights to Shaktimaan. Around that time, coincidentally, a photo of Ranveer Singh wearing Shaktimaan’s costume surfaced on social media. I refused to give them the rights but proposed that they collaborate with me instead. I didn’t want them to turn it into a disco drama.”
