Randeep Hooda says ‘nobody in Bollywood’ spoke about Extraction, recalls how he prepared for it: ‘Thor ke saath do do haath karne ka mauka’
Randeep Hooda recalled how he prepared for his role in Extraction. He also expressed his disappointment in not getting any support from his peers for the film.

Randeep Hooda, who was recently seen in his directorial debut Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, isn’t the one to mince words and in a recent interview, the actor opened up about the lack of support from his film industry peers. Randeep spoke about his role in Chris Hemsworth-starrer Extraction, where, despite having a significant role in the film, no one from the film industry applauded his work.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, he said, “I had played a significant role in the film but nobody in Bollywood spoke about the film. Hindustan mein toh kuch nahin hua. Yahan kisi ne baat tak nahin ki siwaay kuch media walon ne (Nobody in India discussed my film except a few members from the media) However, my work received appreciation internationally and I was praised for my role.”
He added that while most Hollywood films cast Indians in insignificant roles, his role in the 2022 film stood out. He also spoke about the lack of opportunities for Indian actors when it comes to action roles. “We Indians are not considered physically strong but Extraction allowed me to show that Indians are physically strong. If you look at the representation of Indians in English films, you’ll they mostly play parts that see them as taxi drivers, technicians, doctors etc. So, when I was cast opposite Chris Hemsworth, I lapped up the opportunity and prepared for the role. Maine khud se kaha, ‘Aree Thor ke saath do do haath karne ka mauka mil raha hai. Isse accha mauka mujhe nahin milega (I told myself, ‘I am getting to combat Thor. I won’t get a better opportunity than this). It gave me a lot of scope as an actor and international exposure,” he said.
The role opened new avenues for the actor as he was later approached for many other Hollywood films but because of his commitment to Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, he did not take up any of those projects. “In the last two years, I was offered many Hollywood projects but owing to my commitment to Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, I couldn’t take them up. Now that I have become a writer and director, I want to make an action film like Extraction,” he said.
