Ranbir Kapoor stays home with Raha when Alia Bhatt is working, my dad Rishi Kapoor would just come and ask…: Riddhima Kapoor compares parenting styles

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt welcomed their daughter Raha in November 2022 and since then, the two actors have constantly stressed on the importance of being present for their daughter. As they are both working actors, they make sure that either one of them is present for the young child and in a recent interview, Ranbir’s sister Riddhima insisted that he is very involved in Raha’s life and implied that her late father Rishi Kapoor wasn’t as present in their life.

Talking to Hauterrfly, Riddhima said, “When Alia is working, Ranbir pitches in, which is great. Obviously, that’s his daughter. He does it with a lot of love and a lot of… like his eyes shine when he sees his child. He is a great father and she is an amazing mom. But when she is working, he is at home looking after her.” The conversation then steered towards how men of the current generation are doing better than the previous generations in terms of their fatherly duties and Riddhima implied that her father wouldn’t be as involved. “My dad used to come and just ask my mom ‘Paani boil kia na?’ That’s it. Done,” she said.

Rishi Kapoor was a superstar in the movies when his children – Riddhima and Ranbir Kapoor were growing up. Their mother, Neetu Kapoor, had quit acting after she married Rishi and was a stay-at-home mother. In an earlier interview on The Anupam Kher Show, Rishi spoke about his relationship with his son and said that he always maintained a distance with him, like he had with his father, late filmmaker Raj Kapoor.

“Main jaanta hun ki iss film industry aise bahut se parents hai jo apne bachchon ko dost jaise maante hai. Mera rishta mere baap ke saath kabhi aisa nahi tha. Maine jaan bujh ke yeh rishta maine apne bete se bhi nahi rakkha. Ho sakta hai ki humare beech mein ek sheesha ki deewar hai (I know there are many parents in the film industry who consider their children as their friends. I never had such a relationship with my father. I intentionally didn’t have a relationship like that with my son. Maybe there is a glass wall between us),” Rishi said.
