Ranbir Kapoor confirms he’ll direct a film soon, opens up about reuniting with ‘master’ Sanjay Leela Bhansali and ‘super-talented wife’ Alia Bhatt in Love and War: ‘Whatever I know about acting was…’

In a recent Instagram live session on his birthday, actor Ranbir Kapoor opened up about his next film Love & War, desire to turn director, and much more.

Ranbir Kapoor turned 43 recently and celebrated the day with his family on a short vacation. After returning to Mumbai, he also stepped out to cut a cake with the paparazzi. The highlight of the special occasion was Ranbir doing an Instagram Live session from his brand ARKS’ official account. During the session, he spoke about his birthday, turning 43, directorial debut, his film Love & War, and much more.

On Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War

As soon as the Live session began, he was flooded with many questions about his next film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War. He opened up about the project and said, “Love and War is a film directed by Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and it stars one of my two favourite actors, Vicky Kaushal and, of course my super talented wife Alia Bhatt, and it’s directed by the man who taught me everything about cinema, whatever I know about acting, was seeded in by him, and he was a master then, and I’m working with him 18 years later, and he’s even bigger master today. So I’m very happy with that collaboration.”

Ranbir on turning 43

During the live session, a fan commented, “43 never looked so handsome.” “Just imagine, it’s just seven years till I hit 50, it just hit me. I was making a video and I looked at my grey hair and (realised) in 7 years, I am going to be 50. Life just goes by too fast. Just live every day to your fullest, give it your best, be kind, be loving, and just have fun in your life, and just be a good person,” the actor responded with a bright smile.

Desire to direct a film

When asked by a fan about his plans to mark his debut as a director, he replied, “I am dying to direct a movie. I have actually started a writers’ room recently. I am trying to inspire myself with the two ideas I have. I am starting to work on it, but it is definitely on my to-do list in the next couple of years.”

Ranbir Kapoor’s song playlist

He also gave fans a glimpse of his music taste and discussed his current favourite songs, praised the films Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra and Saiyaara. “I think one song which I truly love is ‘Barbaad’ from ‘Saiyaara’. I like the music of ‘Lokah’. I recently saw the film. It was just excellent. I like ‘Sahiba’, it’s a great song, ‘Saiyaara’ soundtrack is great,” he shared.

Raha’s special gift

RK also revealed the special gift he received from his daughter, Raha Kapoor, for his birthday. “I spent the entire day with Alia and Raha and just did nothing. Raha made me promise that she will give me 43 kisses, so I got that and she made me a beautiful card. It really moved me. It was a perfect birthday,” he shared.

On the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently shooting for Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part adaptation of Ramayana, in which he will be playing the role of Lord Ram. The film also stars Yash, Sai Pallavi, Lara Dutta, Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, and others. The first part is scheduled to hit the theatres on Diwali next year.
