‘My father insisted on accompanying me for bikini shopping for Miss India,’ recalls Rakul Preet Singh: ‘Telling me to buy bright colours’

Rakul Preet Singh recently shared her parents' unwavering support throughout her journey since the age of 18. In a new interview, she recalled her Miss India phase, sharing a funny story about her father.

Rakul Preet Singh started her career in the southern film industry and soon after, she tried her luck at the Miss India pageant. Rakul eventually found fame in the Hindi film industry and in a recent interview, Rakul shared that it was actually her mother who believed that the entertainment industry might be a good fit for Rakul.

In a recent interview with Filmfare, Rakul shared, “My mom made me see that I am a drama queen who should explore showbiz. She encouraged me to try for Miss India and start modeling. My dad has always been very supportive as well.” Rakul further added that her parents were always supportive of what she wanted to do and added, “They told me to keep my head on my shoulders. If they ever felt I was losing my way, they would say, ‘Pack your bags and come home.’ They’ve been very supportive.”

Talking about her parents’ support, Rakul recalled a humorous incident when her father insisted on accompanying her for bikini shopping for the Miss India pageant. She said, “My dad wanted to come shopping with me for bikinis, telling me to buy bright colours.” She laughed and said that while she appreciated her father’s support, but insisted on taking her mother for shopping. She said, “I was like, ‘Okay, I know you love me but I will take mom with me.’ I have been very lucky to have supportive parents.”

Rakul recently tied the knot with actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani. She was last seen in Kamal Haasan-starrer Indian 2. She is currently working on the sequel to De De Pyaar De.
