Rajpal Yadav shares Shah Rukh Khan rehearsed their scene in Kal Ho Naa Ho 12 times: ‘Didn’t feel like he was a star’

Rajpal Yadav, who shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan for the first time in Kal Ho Naa Ho, recalled how the 'Badshah' of Bollywood didn't hesitate in rehearsing 12 times with him for a small scene.

Shah Rukh Khan is a dream co-actor. Many actors who have worked with him, irrespective of the duration of their scenes or the gravity of their characters in the movie, have always spoken highly of him. Recently, actor Rajpal Yadav, who shared the screen with SRK for the first time in the 2003 film Kal Ho Naa Ho, recalled how the ‘Badshah’ of Bollywood didn’t hesitate in rehearsing with him for a small scene in the film for almost 12 times.

While speaking to Mashable India, Yadav revisited the days when he was cast in a small role of Guru in the Nikhil Advani directorial. He shared, “Shah Rukh Khan was a superstar and I was a beginner. It was my first introduction to him as an actor. If I did 12 rehearsals for that one scene, he responded in all 12 as if he is a beginner. It didn’t feel like he was a superstar. Our tuning was very good in that scene.”

Rajpal Yadav played a Mumbai goon in the film who came for a blind date with Sweetu (Delnaaz) but mistakenly goes to her neighbour Naina’s (Preity Zinta) house where she was having dinner with her and Aman’s (SRK) family.

As Yadav worked with Shah Rukh, he discovered the actor’s passion for his work, “He had that passion in him to do something great.” After Kal Ho Naa Ho, Rajpal Yadav worked with SRK in films like Billu, Bhoothnath and Paheli. The actor feels Shah Rukh is yet to deliver his best performance. He said, “His films are doing so well but I still feel his best performance is yet to come because he considers his profession his passion.”

Rajpal Yadav was last seen in a comic role in Ayushmann Khurrana’s Dream Girl 2. He donned a menacing avatar in the Dinsey Plus Hotstar series Apurva and surprised his fans. The series also starred Tara Sutaria, Abhishek Banerjee, and Dhairya Karwa.
