Rajkummar Rao is on the brink of possibly delivering the biggest hit of his career with Stree 2, if early reports are to be believed. The actor, who hails from a modest background, recently opened up about his struggles and shared that even though he studied from FTII, he had to go through some tough times after he moved to Mumbai to find work as an actor. Rao recalled the time when he had just Rs 18 in his bank account and had to wonder where he would get his next meal. Talking to Sushant Sinha on his YouTube channel, Rajkummar said that he moved to Mumbai in 2008 but did nit get his first break with Love Sex Aur Dhokha until 2010. "There were times there was no money. "I remember I had Rs 18 in my bank account and my friend had Rs 21 in his bank account and we were thinking how do we eat our next meal? Of course, FTII has a huge community so you call someone and ask them if you can have food at their house. Can we come? And they say yes," he shared. Rajkummar said that he had given hundreds of auditions before Love Sex Aur Dhokha and even after he landed the first film, he was paid only Rs 11,000 for it. "I think that money lasted for a month or so," he said. When asked if Rajkummar ever did any film just for money, the actor said that he made sure to stay away from that "trap" as that would have been the "wrong motivation" to take up any film. "I was just living hand to mouth at that point. There were no luxuries. Three of us used to share a flat. Sometimes, I would do an ad so I would get some money from there like Rs 8,000-9,000. So I somehow made it work," he said. Rajkummar's Stree 2 is currently in theatres.
