Rajkummar Rao on playing his dream role of Bhagat Singh: ‘It will be a very different take on his life’
Rajkummar Rao has often spoken about his dream of playing the freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on the big screen.

Actor Rajkummar Rao, who can currently be seen in the Netflix series Guns and Gulaabs, spoke about his dream role in a new interview. He said that he would love to play Bhagat Singh in a film, and promised that if he ever gets the chance, he would do it like nobody else has before. He previously played Subhas Chandra Bose in a web series.
Several Bollywood films have been made on life of the freedom fighter, including The Legend of Bhagat Singh, 23rd March 1931: Shaheed, Rang De Basanti, and many more. While there have been several reports about Rajkummar playing the role, nothing has been confirmed yet. He said in an interview with Pinkvilla that he feels very “passionately” about the legendary freedom fighter’s story.
“Of course, I’m very passionate about Bhagat Singh and his journey, and to present him on screen in a very different way than whatever you have seen till now, and it was great also,” he said. The actor added, “But, if I would ever do Bhagat Singh, it will be a very different take on his life and, me playing him as an actor.”
Rajkumar’s recent crime comedy series Guns and Gulaabs is getting mixed reviews. The actor plays the role of a lovestruck mechanic Paana Tipu in the show, created by Raj and DK. The series also stars Dulquer Salmaan, TJ Bhanu, Satish Kaushik, Vipin Sharma, Gushan Devaiah, Adarsh Gourav and Pooja Gor. Shubra Gupta of The Indian Express reviewed the series and wrote, “Raj and DK’s signature humour is on display but not all jokes land. The primary cast is stuffed with good actors, but not everyone is written interestingly.”
