Priyanka Chopra’s mom Madhu says it is the child’s fault when parents treat them badly: ‘The fault is in you, not in the parent who has done the best for you’
Priyanka Chopra and her brother Siddharth grew up with their maternal grandparents since their parents were working round the clock.

Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, recently spoke about Priyanka’s childhood. Madhu said that Priyanka and her brother, Siddharth, largely grew up with their grandparents, and if it wasn’t for them, she wouldn’t have been able to manage her work and personal life. She recalled that when she spent time with her kids, she gave them undivided attention. She also spoke about “misguided children” who blame their parents for their faults.
She shared on Rubina Dilaik’s YouTube channel, “My kids, when they were really small and we were also young, they spent their childhood at my parents’ house. There was a lot of support from their side.” She recalled that after she was done with work, she spent uninterrupted time with her children, and shared, “We worked with complete focus and dedication but when we spent time with our kids, it was quality time. There was no interruption at that time. No phone calls, no patients, just 100 percent focus on the kids. So the kids were always happy with that. They knew that ‘grown ups always come back’, we always made sure that our kids knew about it.”
She then said that even if parents treat their kid badly, it is the child’s responsibility to introspect. “Sometimes kids get misguided. They start earning, move out and parents get left behind. I hear so many kids complaining about their childhood. ‘We are carrying the scars of our childhood, that is why we are like this’. They say, ‘That’s why we are smoking up, or doing something bad’. That is wrong. Even if your parents treated you badly, they were doing the best they could. Something was wrong with you which is why they had to change themselves. You didn’t improve yourself so the fault is in you, not in the parent who has done the best for you. I tell them to introspect and improve themselves. Until you realise that, you can’t change your path and you can’t do the right thing.”
Previously, in a chat with Something Bigger Show’s YouTube channel, Madhu had spoken about her son Siddharth and said that he was “collateral damage” to Priyanka’s success. “Siddharth was the collateral damage to all of Priyanka’s success, because dad was working, I was with Priyanka, he just grew up on his own and he was a teenager at that time. He, I think, was collateral damage for me,” she said and added, “When I think about it, these are certain things that you had to deal with him.”
