Veteran Bollywood actor Poonam Dhillon and her filmmaker husband Ashok Thakeria parted ways in 1997 after being married for nine years. But the two didn’t let their divorce affect their relationship with their children, son Anmol and daughter Paloma. In a recent interview, Paloma, who made her acting debut with the film Dono, shared how she never felt that she didn’t have a family as both her parents were actively present in her growing-up years.

Paloma revealed that her mother Poonam handled the decision to separate from her husband well and never let it affect the childhood of their children. She told News18, “We don’t feel we missed out on anything ever. My brother and I never felt we were lacking something or that we were not a family. My dad is my best friend and I can’t go a day without talking to him or to my mom. We are on the same group chats, we are discussing work.”

She added that she feels ‘great’ to be working in the same industry as her parents as she can learn so much from their experience. “It feels great to be in the same industry as them as they are so experienced and they can give us the best advice,” said Paloma.

Poonam also shared that her former husband has always been there for his children. “The father has been totally there, emotionally, mentally, physically and in every way. We have always co-parented. In fact, if I was going out of town, I would make sure that they (children) stay with their father. I never left them alone for a single day until they were 18. We have always been together as parents. Even today, he is very much a part of every decision I take,” the veteran star shared.

She added that even if she has to complain about her children, she calls Ashok and tells him about what they did.

Paloma’s debut film Dono, which also marked the debut of Sunny Deol’s son Rajveer, couldn’t work well at the box office. It was helmed by Sooraj Barjatya’s son Avnish Barjatya.
