Around two months ago, veteran actor Paresh Rawal had a public fallout with Akshay Kumar over his remuneration and role in Priyadarshan’s upcoming, highly-anticipated comedy drama Hera Pheri 3, which is being producer by Akshay himself. Paresh shocked fans with his announcement of walking out of the third instalment of the popular Hera Pheri franchise.
But, he later returned and confirmed that their feud was resolved and he will be back as his iconic character Baburao Ganpatrao Apte. The cult comedy will feature the OGs Suniel Shetty as Shyam and Akshay Kumar as Raju. In a recent interview, Paresh Rawal opened up about his character Baburao’s spin-off and re-entering Hera Pheri 3 after exiting a few months ago.
During a chat with News18, Paresh provided an update about Hera Pheri 3 and shared, “It’s a work in progress. We’ll start shooting for the film in February-March next year.”
When asked if his decision to quit the film affected his bond with Priyadarshan, he replied, “A lot has happened but that hasn’t soured my relationship with Priyadarshan. Aise rishta kharab nahi hota hai. In fact, what has happened is that it has further solidified our equation. Through all of this, we now know each in a sharper and better way. Ghaav bhar gaya hai. Our relationship is very transparent.”
In the same conversation, the actor also talked about the possibility of a spin-off movie just for his iconic character Babu Bhaiya. He revealed that he has not had a discussion with the director yet, but if a spin-off film on Baburao is made, it will require Suniel Shetty as Shyam and Akshay Kumar as Raju to be in it. “I’m not a greedy actor. I’m not foolish either. I’m not someone who assumes that duniya meri wajah se chalti hai. Even if a standalone film happens someday, Shyam and Raju also need to be there,” he elaborated.
Besides Hera Pheri 3, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal are also collaborating on two other comedies – Priyadarshan’s horror comedy Bhooth Bangla and Ahmed Khan’s adventure comedy Welcome to the Jungle.
